Meet Our Spring '21 Interns!

Boston, MA - We are thrilled to introduce our interns, Sam, Wen, and Karina for the Spring 2021 semester! As always, we looked to Lasell University for a talented pool of interns and with the goals and needs of KB Fashion Productions expanding in this crazy Covid world, we couldn't be more excited about the uber talented team we've put together. Learn more about Sam, Wen, and Karina below!

SAM:

What are you studying & what's your expected date of graduation?

I'm majoring in Fashion Communication and Promotion and minoring in Communications. I'm expecting to graduate May 2021.

What's the best part about getting a fashion degree at Lasell?

The best part about getting a fashion degree at Lasell is that there are so many opportunities here to try your luck in different fields of the fashion industry. Whether it's working with big name fashion companies or landing a great internship such as this one with KB Fashion Productions, that will guide you in the right direction career wise and teach you some things you may not have learned before as well as many volunteer opportunities to work behind the scenes at photo shoots, model or even assist backstage at fashion shows.

What made you want to work in the fashion industry?

I've always loved fashion since I was a little girl and growing up I went to a private school so I didn't necessarily get to choose what to wear until I was in high school. Since then I've been very experimental with my outfit choices, stepping out of my comfort zone and in turn it's been a major confidence boost.

What's your dream job?

My dream job would be a celebrity stylist. I've always loved watching the Met Gala on TV and critiquing celebrity's outfits from the comfort of my couch. I look up to celebrities and musicians such as Rihanna, A$AP Rocky and Lil Uzi Vert who all have very unique styles and would love the chance to style them or people with similar styles in the future.

What are some of your hobbies or favorite activities?

I love visiting art museums (pre-Covid), to not only admire the art but to also get inspired. It's often refreshing to just walk around an art museum and take everything in. I also love to go thrift shopping or create art of my own, whether it's digital or painting.

What TV show are you binging right now?

I just binged season 20 of America's Next Top Model. It's one of my all time favorite shows and I used to actually wait every week for it to premiere on television when I was younger.

What is your favorite fashion moment?

Two of my favorite fashion moments are Rihanna's iconic 2015 Met Gala look and Kim Kardashian's "wet" Met Gala look in 2019.

WEN:

What are you studying & what's your expected date of graduation?

I am majoring in Fashion Merchandising and Retail and minoring in Accounting. I am expecting to finish my undergrad this May.

What's the best part about getting a fashion degree at Lasell?

At Lasell, professors and staff always provide students with interesting and creative content in our class and give students all the opportunities to explore and learn more about themselves. I am able to learn more from other classmates, faculty, professors and professionals in the fashion industry.

What made you want to work in the fashion industry?

I grew up in a family who owns and operates a business that merchandises and produces holiday ribbons and crafts. This personal insight to fashion marketing definitely built my interest in fashion. Also during high school, I was really into putting outfits together and creating my own content on social media.

What's your dream job?

I would love to be a visual merchandiser for a brand or take on a role relating to the visual aspect of the company and design. As an educated student, this gives me the ability and knowledge to apply my creativity and fashion sense.

What are some of your hobbies or favorite activities?

I love baking, taking a stroll around the river, biking, and watching movies.

What TV show are you binging right now?

Next in Fashion!

What is your favorite fashion moment?

One of my favorite fashion moments for me will be Karl Lagerfeld's final Chanel show. This show presented many of his incredible designs and strengthened his legacy in fashion and design. He was an icon for the fashion industry and also one of my favorite designers.

When the world reopens, where do you want to travel?

I would love to go to Greece.

KARINA:

What are you studying & what's your expected date of graduation?

I am studying Fashion Merchandising and Management and have a double minor in Business and Entrepreneurship. My expected graduation date is May 2022.

What's the best part about getting a fashion degree at Lasell?

The best part about working towards a fashion degree at Lasell is taking classes that drive my passion for the industry and makes me want to learn.

What made you want to work in the fashion industry?

I would say that I am one of the few people to legitimately know what I want to do with my future since I was little. The fashion industry has always been something that I was drawn to. Family and friends always encouraged me to take this path and would gift me different fashion toys, like illustration sketchbooks and fashion design sewing kits when I was younger. When I started looking at colleges, I chose to study fashion merchandising at Lasell because I wanted to do something that makes me happy.

What's your dream job?

My dream job is to be a buyer for luxury apparel at a high-end retailer like Nieman Marcus or Saks Fifth Avenue.

What are some of your hobbies or favorite activities?

When I'm not working or doing school work, I love to sew or do puzzles while watching my favorite movies.

What TV show are you binging right now?

I just finished the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and am rewatching the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch, as well as Bridgerton.

What is your favorite fashion moment?

Anything with Rhianna, from her SavageXFenty shows which include a diverse cast of models to her iconic Met Gala looks.

When the world reopens, where do you want to travel?

This past fall semester I was supposed to study abroad in Florence and I was planning to travel to other European countries to see family members, but was unfortunately unable to do so. When we are able to travel safely, I would love to go to Italy and maybe do a mini European tour to see family in Portugal and Germany.
